Fresh Epcot 2021 began just yesterday and I’ve already dug into so many of this year’s kitchens – trying all of the returning dishes and new options at each to help you make the most of your time and money when you’re able to visit.

First up? Fleur de Lys in France! I’m usually not drawn to this booth because the food can be heavier and the temperature is creeping up in Florida, but it’s been hitting it out of the park lately so I was eager to see what they’d come up with this time.

  • Tarte aux Oignons Caramélisés et Chèvre: Goat Cheese Tart with Caramelized Onions on a flaky Pastry Crust ($5.50)

This was lovely last year for Fresh Epcot’s short run before the closure and it’s back and just as rich and wonderful this year. Given how rich it is it might not the perfect dish for a hot Florida day – but on a cool afternoon or evening it would be just what the doctor ordered. And pro tip? Dip it in the sauce from…

  • Canard Confit à l’Orange aux Gnocchi à la Parisienne: Braised Duck Confit à l’Orange with Parisian Gnocchi ($6.50)

This is another dish making a reappearance and I’m so happy for it. I’m not an indiscriminate fan of duck but this almost could have passed for a very rich chicken or turkey. And the gnocchi is far from the dense round type that you’d expect in Italian food. Instead it is a long sort of dumpling. I cannot recommend this enough…especially if you are smart enough to get the tarte too and dip it in the leftover sauce.

  • Macaron au Chocolate en Sucette: Large Chocolate Macaron Lollipop ($5.95)

This is back again and just as lovely as ever. It’s quite sweet but not overpowering. The macaron is light and filled with a rich, soft chocolate and then dipped in these pretty little balls that make the whole thing that much more fun and pretty.

  • Beignet Caramélisé, Fourré Crème Vanille, Glacé au Caramel Fleur de Sel: Caramelized Beignet filled with Vanilla Cream and Glazed with Caramel Fleur de Sel ($5.25)

Shut the front door. This thing is where it’s at. A soft warm beignet filled with a dollop of custard-like cream and smothered in caramel. The top is fired and crisp like you’re breaking into the top of a crème brûlée. For $5.25 this is an incredible, very shareable deal.

  • La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy: Vodka, Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka, St. Germain Liqueur, White and Red Cranberry Juice ($12.50)

It’s back and it’s still perfect. At the weather heats up, I’m sure I’ll be enjoying more of these.

Have you eaten at Fleur de Lys yet? If you have, let me know your thoughts!
