You’ll find the Florida Fresh booth between the France and Morocco Pavilions at the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. This year it has three food items – two savory and one sweet.
- Carne Guisada with Black Bean Cake and Cilantro-lime Sour Cream ($6.50)
I loved this SO much. The slow simmered meat is shredded to a melt-in-your mouth consistency and the cilantro-lime sour cream is exactly what the doctor ordered to pull it all together. Even the black bean cake is cooked perfectly and soaks up everything from the stewed meat on top of it. I’ll be getting this more than once.
- Spicy Blackened Shrimp and Cheddar Cheese Grits with Brown Gravy and Local Sweet Corn Relish ($7.00)
These are WONDERFUL. I had 4 good-sized shrimp in mine and the cheese grits with gravy and corn relish are going to make you want to lick your plate. It has the tiniest bit of heat but nothing overwhelming at all.
- Key Lime Tart with Toasted Meringue (kid-friendly) ($4.50)
If you like key lime, you’ll like this – and it doesn’t hurt that it’s lovely. Nothing earth shattering taste wise, but the filling with tart and creamy and the shell is soft and moist. It’s a lovely, refreshing little dessert.
- Watermelon Cucumber Slushy with Gin ($11.75)
This is so perfectly light and refreshing and will be perfect on any hot day. That said, don’t forget to stir it!! That clear stuff on the bottom? That’s all of the gin. And if you sip the top off first you’ll be left with a shot of it. This is also available in a non-alcoholic version for all of you teetotalers and little ones.
I’m sure I’ll be back again – but for now?
