If you’re reading this, you probably don’t need me to tell you that scents are a big, big part of the immersive Disney experience. In a land where everything speaks, this most primal sense is harnessed – sometimes deliberately and sometimes not – to tie some of our most beloved Walt Disney World memories to smells that we find ourselves longing for when we aren’t visiting the parks or resorts.
Like we talk about on Lou’s show, they’re also such a powerful way to connect with “our people”. There’s something about finding out that someone else knows exactly what you’re talking about when you swoon over the scent of musty water or Rome burning. And the stranger the scent, the cooler that is – because everyone can love the scent of the Riviera lobby (and we do!!) but it takes a certain level of fandom to long for the smell of Pirates of the Caribbean.
