Welcome to my latest series – Thursdays off-the-beaten path – a collection of ideas for day trips from Walt Disney World when you need a bit of down time or otherwise want to explore more of what Central Florida has to offer.
Last week we explored the incredible Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures. This week we’re headed instead to Southern Hill Farms in Clermont!!

Location: Southern Hills Farms is located at 16651 Schofield Road in Clermont, Florida – about 25 minutes from Walt Disney World.
Cost: Different activities come at different prices. Blueberry, peach, strawberry, and pumpkin picking is by the pound. Zinnias and sunflowers are by the stem – with an added per person fee to enter the sunflower fields because so many of us go just for the gorgeous photo ops. (Though professional/paid photography sessions are NOT permitted on their property.) You’ll also find paid activities – especially for kids during the Fall Festivals – and food trucks galore year ’round.
Locals in the know are rolling their eyes at this post because Southern Hill is no secret. In fact, they can get pretty crowded during the high seasons – so it’s always good to go early in the day. That said, they’ve earned those crowds. Southern Hill Farms is a benchmark for Florida Agritourism – the practice of allowing visitors onto private farm properties to engage in activities and pick-your-own-crop adventures, hopefully learning a little more about local food sources and getting our elbows a little dirty too in the process.
The spring season brings blueberries, peaches, zinnias and sunflowers. During the fall you’ll find pumpkins, of course, and more sunflowers. Over the winter, they’ve added strawberry picking – so stop by and pick a basket during our glorious Florida “winter” days (and be sure to grab some fresh made doughnuts while you’re there!).
Keep this one in your back pocket for the fall – because the Fall Festival season, with all of its pumpkins, food trucks, live music, and fun starts on Saturday, September 25th!!
