Thursdays Off the Beaten Path: Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures

Welcome to my latest series – Thursdays off-the-beaten path – a collection of ideas for day trips from Walt Disney World when you need a bit of down time or otherwise want to explore more of what Central Florida has to offer.

Last week we explored the incredible Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. This week we’re headed instead to Kissimmee for a Boggy Creek Airboat Adventure!!

As always, information on all of these activities will be accurate as of the time of posting, but I encourage you to verify independently that they are open and available when you plan to visit, as well as double checking any rules that might affect your time spent there. You can find Boggy Creek’s website right HERE.

Location: Boggy Creek is about an hour from Walt Disney World in Kissimmee, on Lake Tohopekaliga.

Cost: Ranging from $30-$70 per adult ($25-$70 per child) depending on the chosen tour. You can also purchase packages that include a meal and other activities on the property as well as packages that include other Florida destinations, so definitely peruse their site to see what appeals most to you.

If you want a Florida experience with some of the nicest people this side of anywhere, definitely check out Boggy Creek. I’ve done their airboat rides a few times now and am never ever not glad I made the trip.

There are a number of airboat tour options – from 30 or 60 minute long daytime rides to VIP tours to sunset and nighttime adventures. I personally love the sunset tours because the views are not to be believed, the animals are more active, and the water all around you is just so peaceful.

Plus I never met a golden hour I didn’t like. 😉

If you’re there for a daytime airboat ride while the rest of Boggy Creek is open, you can also make time to listen to their amazing presenter in the Native American Village, grab a drink at the Tiki Bar or a bite at Boggy Bottom BBQ, and let the kids try their luck at the Gem Mine. There’s also a small gator pond with some friends on loan from Gatorland and some other shops and goodies.

This is a very down to earth experience at the northern point of the Florida Everglades. Amazing for wildlife photography and a bit of peace in the midst of a hectic vacation.
