Big news out of Disney today!! They’ve announced new “extra, extra Magic Hours daily at Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks for guests staying on property and at other select resorts. These daily EMH will include access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and other popular lands, like Pandora and Toy Story Land.
Talk about an incentive to stay on property!!
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios — Daily from Sept. 1-Nov. 2, the park will have Extra, Extra Magic Hours from 6-9 a.m.,including Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, plus Toy Story Land attractions and select other attractions.
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Extra, Extra Magic Hours will happen daily Aug. 29-Nov. 2, from 7-8 a.m., featuring Pandora and other attractions throughout the park (same as current offerings).
- Magic Kingdom Park —Extra, Extra Magic Hours will happen daily from Aug. 29-Nov. 2, from 7-8 a.m., featuring certain favorite attractions in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland (same as current offerings).
- Epcot – You’ll find the same Extra Magic Hours as currently offered on select days.
Do I still think that everyone will be descending on Galaxy’s Edge at once? Pretty much. But with any luck these daily Extra Magic Hours’ being offered for a limited time will do a lot to get people dispersed across parks and in (and out? maybe?) early so that even more people can enjoy the new land throughout the day.
Looks like this is Walt Disney World’s answer to crowd control – which is quite different from Disney Land’s time slot approach. This makes some sense, as less of the guests at Walt Disney World are local (though of course plenty of nonlocals will be descending on Disney Land for the opening of Galaxy’s Edge out west).
