The Honey Bee-stro booth at Flower & Garden Festival is another old favorite that we all love to visit again and again. It’s hosted by the National Honey Board and found in Showcase Plaza as you cross from Future World, near the Imagination Pavilion, into World Showcase. This year they have three food items, two savory and one sweet, and lots of drinks.

  • Tupelo Honey and Sweet Corn Spoon Bread with Jalapeños, Bacon, and House-made Whipped Honey Butter (gluten/wheat-friendly, $4.75)

Excuse my ugly picture – the lighting was awful and my family was hovering with forks. Lol. But this is so, so good. Full of whole kernels of corn and bits of jalepeño that give it just the slightest kick without being overly spicy at all. I do wish the bacon was cooked a little crisper, but that’s personal preference and honestly something that probably varies from one serving to the next. For $4.50 this is a nice treat, especially if you are looking for a great gluten-free option.

  • Lavender Honey Mustard-marinated Chicken Flatbread with Whipped Honey-Ricotta Cheese, Marinated Vegetables, and Purple Haze Lavender Goat Cheese ($5.75)

They serve up some version of this flatbread every year and truth told I’m always a little disappointed. It looks and sounds so good but falls a bit flat in execution. It’s not that the festival can’t pull off flatbreads. Italy and Morocco have done them beautifully again and again. This however is a bit dry and the flavors just don’t come together quite right. By all means try it for yourself if you’re intrigued. But I’d get the cornbread first. Or the…

  • Local Wildflower Honey-Mascarpone Cheesecake with Orange Blossom Honey Whipped Cream, Whipped Honey, Crystalized Honey, Honeycomb, Dehydrated Honey, and Fennel Pollen Meringue Kisses ($5.00)

This is really delicious and a decent value at $5.00!! My fellow tribe members will likely expect a hamantaschen-type dessert based on its pictures but it’s actually a cheesecake bedding in an array of honeys – whipped, crystallized, dehydrated, etc. Definitely one of my favorite festival desserts – both for taste and creativity.

  • First Magnitude Brewing Co. Honey Bee Citrus Blonde Ale, Gainesville, Fla. (6 oz $4.50 / 12 oz $8.50)

Loved this ale!! I’m not a big beer drinker (to say the least) but this is crisp and refreshing and so good for a hot day. I also like that it’s available to taste (6 oz) and as a more typical full serving (12 oz.).

  • Honey-Peach Freeze with Blueberry Vodka ($12.00)

This is SO good. Absolutely nothing to look at but easily one of the best tasting beverages at the festival – with the consistency of a rich milkshake and the taste of a light dessert. Just be sure to stir it very well before you take a sip, as they just pour the vodka on top and otherwise you’ll basically be taking a shot.

If you want to trade the vodka for a souvenir, this is also available without the alcohol in a Spike sipper for $15.
