Six Ravens Is Now Open at Disney Springs: Our First Look and Review

Six Ravens is now open at Disney Springs, bringing savory “Coffyn” hand-held sandwiches, smashed potatoes, sweets, and exclusive drinks to The Landing. My family and I had the chance to preview it earlier this week, spend time inside the detailed, Gothic space, and try several items from the opening menu. I have been dying to share the experience.

A New Story From the Creator of Gideon’s Bakehouse

Six Ravens is the latest creation from Steve Lewis and the team behind Gideon’s Bakehouse. Like Gideon’s, the space and the food are more than just a restaurant. These are Gothic spaces, full of stories and characters, where the food is just another star in a bigger show. 

The name draws from the ravens kept at the Tower of London. According to legend, the Tower and the kingdom will fall if the ravens ever leave.

Inside Six Ravens

Like its neighbor and sibling Gideon’s, Six Ravens tells you from the outside that you are about to enter somewhere very different from the usual Disney Springs restaurant.

When you enter you first face this wall, before rounding the bend to the main space. Not a square inch doesn’t feel deliberate. A short conversation with Steve tells you that he has plans for stories for every character in the space.

But you are probably wondering about the food itself.

What’s on the Six Ravens Menu?

There will be about 8 different Coffyns. Two breakfast options that will be gone for the day when they sell out, and half a dozen other options, at least one of which will be vegetarian. There’s a big focus on sauces here, too. Each Coffyn is served with a special sauce and a small spoon to load it onto your food. And the smashed potatoes come with a honey mustard that Steve created and was just excited to be able to offer—the potatoes are delicious, but they’re really just a vehicle for Steve to get his honey mustard to us. 

It lives up to the hype.

The Coffyns We Tried

We tried three Coffyns during our preview.

 

We tried The Villain of Valentina Coffyn, a chicken concoction with a garlic sauce that will keep you very, very safe from vampires. This is delicious and most definitely not a first date food.

We also had The Imperial Idol Coffyn, a curry-based chicken option that was just as delicious and came with a sauce reminiscent of a creamy chimichurri. 

And lastly, we had The Peasant’s Patty Coffyn, a cheeseburger-style option that came with a sort of leveled up Chick-fil-A or Big Mac sauce. (I hate even to make the comparison, please forgive me Steve…just trying to communicate that “delicious pink burger sauce” vibe.) Tyson inhaled this before I even got a decent picture of it.

We were also able to try their tart—a beyond rich and indulgent pastry, heavy and doughy like a dense, soft cookie and loaded with raspberry filling and chocolate chips. You will not need to wait in this line and the line for Gideon’s if you don’t want to, because this is just as good as any of Gideon’s options, and that’s saying something. It’s also rich enough to satisfy the sweet tooth of a small army. 

They’ve also partnered with a maker to create a root beer that’s exclusive to the shop. Steve says he wanted to make a root beer that didn’t linger on the palate in a way that would interfere with the other tastes.

My kids inhaled the food. We can’t wait to go back. I have so much respect for Steve and the spaces that he creates with his team. It’s that old-school “everything speaks” approach to things that I wish we saw more of these days. 

Bravo. Really. I can’t wait to see how well this place does. This spot and Gideon’s sitting side by side in Springs will be a force to be reckoned with.
