Smile Brilliant: You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile

    ByLisa April 6, 2019April 6, 2019

I’ve always been a teeth whitening maniac. I’ve done it all, from whitening toothpastes and strips to professional treatments to activated charcoal to oil pulling (look it up…) and on and on.  Because let’s keep it real. Your pretty smile is one of those things that sticks with you whether you’re up or down 5…

The Truths Behind Our Picture Perfect Lives

    ByLisa March 24, 2019March 24, 2019

Bear with me because this is a picture of some killer sushi but I’m about to go a little off topic. There was a time in my former life when the incredible Nobu Downtown in NYC was my stomping grounds. When I was killing it as a (miserable and) successful Wall Street attorney, I probably…

On Religion and Tradition and Family

    ByLisa December 5, 2018December 5, 2018

I know we usually talk Disney and running and food around here – but we’re also all friends and I think it’s important to share the day-to-day things that really matter too. Because what this is really all about is my journey (and my family’s journey) to connect with who we are and what fulfills…

Motherhood: I Didn’t Quit My Office Job For My Kids

    ByLisa August 28, 2018August 28, 2018

As I continue to write here about the day-to-day life that we create and my choices and experiences leading up to any given moment, and as more and more mothers from every walk of life read this ongoing story, it becomes more and more important to me for you to understand not only why…

Springtime Surprise Sell Out times!! Challenge wen Springtime Surprise Sell Out times!! Challenge went fast. 10K was next - not surprising given that theme. 😍🏹 5Ks continue to go a bit slower with their increased capacity.

Did you get what you wanted? Things seemed to have been at least a little better for people from what I’m seeing online.

Incredibly grateful to have gotten in early for the challenge with them now recognizing perfect status for the Springtime Challenge & 10-Miler. I’ll see you there!! Outside of Dopey, Springtime is quickly becoming my favorite rD race event of the year.

If you’re new to this world, look to my new book, releasing August 7, for everything you need to know. (Some interesting stuff in there for us seasoned vets, too—full history of rD going back to the first marathon in the 90s, life lessons from long runs…) Link in bio & stories for updates.
NEW (and free): The runDisney Pacing Calculator 🏰 NEW (and free): The runDisney Pacing Calculator 🏰 at thecastlerun.com

Bookmark + share for the upcoming race season.

Pick any scenario. Corral D, first wave, moving at a 10:30 pace? You have over TWO HOURS to play with on the course before the sweep is a concern. Dropping to a 22:00 pace at the same start time? Even with your lead time ahead of the balloon ladies and no stops, you’re likely getting swept.

Give this new tool three numbers: (1) the pace you expect to average while you’re actually moving on the course, (2) when you’ll cross the start line, and (3) when the last wave of the last corral starts (the balloon ladies 🎈).

It spits out two useful numbers: (1) the actual pace you’d need to hold if you didn’t stop at all, and (2) how much time you’ll have for characters, bathrooms, and otherwise playing on the course if you instead hold your expected pace.

The necessary fine print: runDisney requires a 16:00 minute/mile pace regardless, and this is always just an estimate—not a guarantee of anything, including whether or not you’ll get swept. runDisney staff and volunteers always rule the day. And, even with cushion to spare, moving efficiently keeps the course clear and makes race day better for everyone.

This tool is built on the “Cushion” concept from my book, The runDisney Companion, coming in August. The link to join the list is on the calculator page.

The calculator is free, no login, and live now. Link in bio + my stories.
