runDisney: Disney Princess 10K 2020

  • Saturday, February 22, 2020
  • Race Start/Finish: Epcot Parking Lot
  • Official Race Start: 5:30 a.m.

Two down, one to go!! And this was a cold one!!

Weather and Clothing/Gear

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The weather over RunDisney’s Princess weekend is a mystery up until the last minute, so plan your layers accordingly. No matter what you plan on wearing for the race itself, you’ll have several hours of standing around before you start running. Mylar, a poncho, a cheap sweatshirt, and some Hot Hands© will be your best friend on a morning like this. Because, while thank goodness the 5K’s rain had cleared out, the 10K brought much more in the way of cold and wind.

That said, last year’s was incredibly hot and humid. So you really never know.

Course

This was another funny course due to the construction in Future World. Again avoiding that area of the park, we spent some miles on the road before entering World Showcase and looping around Crescent Lake in the Boardwalk area.

Characters and PhotoPass

This was the full list that was meeting before and after the race at the stage area. They were out before and after the race, from 3:30-9:15 a.m.

  • Anna and Elsa (alternating)

  • Princess Jasmine and Princess Aurora (alternating)
  • Princess Tiana and Mulan (alternating)

  • Minnie Mouse

The race itself started right on time at 5:30 a.m. and had lots of PhotoPass photographers during the parts within Epcot, as well as the following character stops:

  • Captain John Smith
  • Meeko
  • Governor John Ratcliffe

  • Mushu
  • Geppetto and Pinocchio

  • Track Suit Mickey

  • Miss Bunny

  • Esmeralda and Quasimoto (OMG!!)

Quasimoto was out without Esmeralda when I came by but I was still over the moon to see him. I adore The Hunchback of Notre Dame and have never seen him out in Walt Disney World before. I’m still waiting for my PhotoPass picture so this is the one from my phone.

  • Sleeping Beauty’s Fairies

Bling

The medal for the 10K was Pocahontas and, again, it was beautiful.

Wrap Up

Huge gratitude to Bolder Athletic Wear for gifting me this Coco-inspired skirt and my other race skirts and leggings for the weekend!! If you want to try their race gear you can use code LISA10 at THIS LINK to order at a 10% discount!!

Another race with a tough, cold wait that was entirely worthwhile. We were bundled up in mylar blankets, and Hot Hands stuffed gloves shivering in the corrals – but the cold felt amazing once we got started and made for some killer finish times for many of us – even if we did give into the temptation to stop for lots of characters!!
