Disney Running Trails: The Magic Kingdom Loop – Seven Seas Lagoon

Ever since the pathway from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to Magic Kingdom opened, the Magic Kingdom / Seven Seas Lagoon loop has far and away been my most requested trail. So today we’ll head that way for the full run down. (See what I did there? Lol)

  • Location: Starting at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, around Bay Lake Tower, past Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian, and Poly – then ending at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). Note that you **cannot** complete the loop on foot, as there is no permitted way to walk from TTC to the Contemporary. You will instead double back at the end or grab the monorail from TTC back to the Contemporary.
  • Distance: About 3.1 miles (or a 5K) if you run from the Contemporary to the TTC and take transportation back to the Contemporary. Double that, or about 6.2 miles (or a 10K), if you go out and back on foot.

You’ll start this run over at the Contemporary (or do some version of it starting at at any other resort along the route) – going past the garden wing buildings along the water to max out your distance. Then head back along the sidewalk, past the main pool area, and head to and around Bay Lake Tower. (If you want to run at just the Contemporary and BLT, you can find my guide for that right HERE.)

You’ll come out at the BLT parking lot and then head toward Magic Kingdom.

Note that you will pass a temperature check along this path, so if you are running hot from exercise you will need to cool off a bit before this point. You’ll also have to go through the security check point, so be extra nice to the guards along the way.

(Bagged railroad station facade during renovations.)

You’ll pass the Magic Kingdom and continue on to the walkway to the Grand Floridian to the left of the monorail.

The pathway offers up some absolutely beautiful views, so be sure to take some time to smell the roses.

At the Grand Floridian, stay near the water – following the path past the boat area and between buildings as necessary, passing the main pool. Then you’ll pass the DVC pool and continue past the wedding pavilion and on to the path to the Polynesian. (If you want to run at just the Grand Floridian and Poly, you can find my guide for that right HERE.)

Arriving at the Polynesian. you’ll again wind your way along the water, passing between buildings as needed.

When you pass the bungalows and the Moorea building, you’ll continue along the path to the TTC.

Here again you’ll need to be temp checked. At this point you will be at around 3.1 miles of distance, or a 5K. If that’s enough for you, you can go through security and hop on the monorail back the the Contemporary. If you’re looking for a longer run, though, you can double back and finish out at 6.2 miles, or a 10K – making this one of the best places on property to get some real distance if you’re okay with factoring in the temp check stations and security check points.

  • Pro Hack:  There are so many things to see on this path. Keep your eyes and ears open for the views and subtle changes in music as you pass each resort and Magic Kingdom. Also remember that, at least at present, you *will* be temp checked as you pass security from the Contemporary to Magic Kingdom (or from the Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom if you are going in the other direction) – so if you heat up when you run you will need to take a moment to cool off before you pass those points.
